Badger Pelt – XL North Idaho Male (Case Skinned)
This extra-large male Badger pelt, harvested in North Idaho, is a striking example of the species, featuring exceptional January-quality fur with impressive length and density. Professionally case skinned, the hide measures 29 inches from nose to base of tail and 35 inches in total length, making it a substantial specimen well-suited for rugging, life-size mounting, or soft mount projects.
The fur displays beautifully dark-outlined guard hairs over a thick layer of pale brown to creamy white underfur, creating rich contrast and depth that is rarely seen in Idaho-harvested badgers. The pelt includes all essential anatomical details, such as feet with claws, genitalia, turned ears, and split lips, offering excellent structure for taxidermy or display work. Its vibrant coloring and full winter coat set it apart as a particularly aesthetic and high-quality specimen.
Though nearly flawless, a few minor cosmetic imperfections prevent it from qualifying as #1 grade: there is a pea-sized bald spot located between the left eye and nose, a 1″ x 1/2″ slip spot near the front right armpit, and a 1″ x 1/4″ slip strip extending from the left corner of the mouth. These flaws are relatively small, can be addressed during mounting or crafting, and do not significantly detract from the pelt’s overall appeal.
This is a highly desirable badger hide with excellent fur quality, full features, and striking coloration, making it an ideal choice for collectors, taxidermists, or artisans seeking a showpiece example of a northern badger. Ethically sourced and carefully handled, this pelt represents one of the finer examples available from the region.
