Mountain Lion / Cougar Hide – North Idaho-Harvested (Case Skinned)
This professionally prepared Mountain Lion (Cougar hide) pelt, harvested in North Idaho, is a well-balanced specimen featuring heavy February-quality fur, ideal for a range of taxidermy and display purposes. The pelt was case skinned and measures 76 inches in total length, with a 50-inch nose-to-base-of-tail measurement. In its tanned, non-stretched state, the hide measures 18 inches across the center of the abdomen and has a 25-inch belly circumference just ahead of the hind hips, reflecting a healthy, robust cat.
The fur is a rich, darker brown with excellent density and texture, characteristic of late winter conditions. This pelt includes all major anatomical features, such as feet with claws, turned ears, split lips, and attached genitalia, offering complete form for rugging, life-size mounts, or soft mounting projects. The whiskers are intact and in excellent condition, adding to the lifelike presentation and appeal of the hide.
There are two small 3/4″ holes located in the left rear foot, where the Idaho Fish and Game pelt tag was affixed. Additionally, one dew claw on a front foot and one rear claw show minor damage from the tanning process; these are easily restorable with light sanding or reshaping and do not detract from the overall quality of the pelt.
This mountain lion hide offers a combination of quality fur, anatomical completeness, and manageable imperfections, making it an excellent choice for both professional taxidermists and collectors. Ethically sourced under Idaho state regulations, this pelt provides a stunning representation of North American wildlife, suitable for a variety of display, educational, or artistic applications.
