Timeline set for landmark Dominion-NextEra Energy merger – WIS News 10

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The Public Service Commission of South Carolina (SCPSC) adopted groundwork and a procedural schedule for a massive potential merger between Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy.
At a special meeting on Tuesday, SCPSC adopted the proposed procedural schedule for the joint petition of Dominion Energy South Carolina, Inc., Dominion Energy, Inc., and NextEra Energy, Inc. regarding the review and approval of their proposed business merger.
The merger, announced in May, would create the world’s biggest regulated electric utility business by market capitalization, according to a joint statement.
The combined company will use NextEra’s name and serve approximately 10 million utility customer accounts across Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Dominion, based in Richmond, Virginia, powers hundreds of data centers and provides regulated electricity to 3.6 million homes and businesses across its service territories, as well as natural gas to 500,000 customers in South Carolina.
