Gothic 1 Remake walkthrough: How to complete The Price of Magic quest – Sportskeeda

The early game in Gothic 1 Remake can be challenging, as everything seems too overpowered to fight. However, once you get your hands on some Magic, things can get a lot easier, and to do so, you’ll need to finish the Price of Magic. It’s an early-game quest that takes just a few minutes to complete and grants you the ability to cast spells with Runes.
Completing the quest will let you choose between a powerful offensive or defensive spell and grant you access to the Magic vendor in the Old Camp. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know to complete the Price of Magic quest.
The Price of Magic quest will have you run across the Old Camp to gather materials for a Mage. However, the reward is well worth it. Here’s how to start and complete the quest:

The first step is to find and speak to a Mage named Torrez. He’s near the southwest area of the Old Camp, past the Chapel. Follow the steps below to reach him.
Accept Torrez’s offer, and he’ll tell you to find a blank piece of scroll paper (Parchment) and two wolf claws, and bring them back to him.
To find the blank piece of scroll paper, head towards the north gate of the Old Camp. There, talk to the trader named Graham, who’ll sell you the Parchment for 16 Ore Nuggets. He’s the same NPC who sells you the map.
The next step is to get two wolf claws. You can defeat the wolves in the wild, but an easier way is to buy them. Near the south gate, look for an NPC vendor named Morgrag. He’ll be carving a piece of wood, and all you need to do is approach him and ask him to show the goods. One wolf claw costs 8 Ore Nuggets, so the total comes to 16. All in all, you need at least 32 Ore Nuggets to progress this step.
Head back to where you first found Torrez and hand him the materials. He’ll explain how the magic works and give you the option to choose between two Rune Magics:
Since you can heal by eating, the Firebolt Rune is the better option. It will make early progression a lot easier. He’ll also warn you that using magic depletes Mana, which you need to recover to cast more spells. And that’s the end of the quest.
After completing the Price of Magic in Gothic 1 Remake, you’ll also gain access to Torrez’s shop, from where you can get more Runes and other magic utility items.
