Crimson Desert: How To Get The Shadow Claw Abyss Gear – TheGamer

Abyss Gears are Crimson Desert’s version of weapon mods, which can be slotted into your weapons to bestow valuable boosts and unique effects. While mastering combat is one of the keys to ensuring your survival in Crimson Desert, you’ll also need to upgrade your weapons with the most powerful Abyss Gears you can find.
Certain Abyss Gears, like Shadow Claw, are guaranteed drops from specific powerful enemies. We’ll show you how to find and defeat Black Claw, a Legendary Wolf, to earn the Shadow Claw Abyss Gear.
To get the Shadow Claw Abyss Gear, you must first have unlocked the Legendary Wolf quest chain located under the House Celeste Faction.
However, first you’ll need to complete or progress the following quest chains to the given step to unlock “Legendary Wolf”:
You should try to complete these in order, as the later faction quests will only unlock once you’ve completed the ones prior.
Legendary Wolf Quest Prerequisites

Prepare for several challenging boss fights during this series of quests, as you’ll need to defeat bosses like the Staglord.
But luckily, you’ll also earn powerful gear, including the Hound Sword, which is especially helpful for the upcoming quest.
When all is done, you will unlock the Legendary Wolf quest chain, beginning with the Silence from Afar quest.
Progress this quest chain until you reach Howls From The North Gate, which is where you’ll get the Shadow Claw Abyss Gear.
The Hernandian Guard from the prior quest warns you that the wolves you’ll face aren’t ordinary, so prepare for a fight.
You need to go to the Hernandian Ruins, west of Drakesfall Gorge and southeast of The Ancient Rift, to begin tracking your prey: The Legendary Wolf.
There will be small packs of wolves around the area as you approach. So be wary. They won’t attack you unless you initiate the fight.
When you reach the spot, take out your lantern and follow the gold trail, hunting the wolf’s tracks.
Eventually, you’ll come to a hill northwest of the Hernandian Ruins and will encounter a large black wolf: Black Fang.
This hulking wolf is joined by a handful of its underlings that help aid it in this fight, so using a two-handed sword or something with AoE damage is recommended.
Darkbringer or Hound are excellent swords that can help you in this fight.
At the start of this fight, you’ll quickly realize Black Fang is an extremely powerful wolf, as it can teleport around the battlefield and reappear to strike with little warning.
Your best chance of survival here is to clear out the smaller wolves first while dodging Black Fang’s attacks as it periodically reappears during the fight.
Once the smaller ones are out of the way, you can focus on Black Fang’s rapid attack patterns.
Keep an eye on your minimap in the bottom left corner, and you can see where Black Fang reappears based on where his large red circle is.
Keep dodging and countering with heavy attacks as often as the wolf appears, watching for the red flashes that indicate an unblockable attack.
Eventually, you’ll deplete the boss’s first health bar, and when you do, the boss will flee. Pull out your lantern again and continue following its trail.
As you follow the trail, you’ll spot Black Fang limping away; pursue it until it engages you in battle again. This time, the wolf will use the same moveset as before, but with some stronger attacks thrown in.

Once you defeat Black Fang, a short cutscene will play, and you’ll receive the following rewards:
Shadow Claw is a powerful gear that is equippable on melee items and unleashes three wolf-like claw swipes forward for additional damage when you use a heavy attack.
We’ll show you the answers to help Shakatu find the traitor in the Goldleaf Merchant Guild.
