Man faces charges for killing black bear that attacked livestock – wfsb.com

GRANBY, Conn. (WFSB) – A Granby man has been charged with a crime after shooting and killing a black bear that he says broke into an enclosure and killed several of his chickens.
Michael Gero, 39, called DEEP Emergency Dispatch on Friday, reporting that he had killed a bear that was attacking his livestock.
Gero told DEEP investigators that he had observed the bear eating a chicken in his yard prior to shooting it, and that he believed the bear killed his goats last month.
Gero was charged for using deadly force to kill a bear, and is expected in court in Torrington on October 9.
