Warning: terrible pussy-related puns are coming.
Warning: terrible pussy-related puns are coming.
Are you the type of person who likes to keep a furry feline companion at your side at all times? Well, during our pro-cat-stination we may have found the purr-fect solution.
A seller on NZ website Trade Me currently has a listing for a “REAL Glamour puss PURSE” … aka a bag made out of a really dead taxidermy cat named Tom.
Whether you love showing off your pussy to the world, or absentmindedly stroking it on the train, this hot new look is practically pouncing of shelves (and by ‘shelves’ I mean ‘the one place on the internet you can buy this very one-off piece’).
Honestly? We don’t know what part about this sale item we find the most claw-some.
The description starts with the basics: “Colour: Orange”
And then it gets into the hard sell: “One off glamour puss purse … For the girl who has everything … The purse strap is easily changed to suit your taste.”
In the attached photos you’re also given a spiel about the bag’s creator, professionally trained taxidermist Claire Hobbs.
Claire “expresses her artistic passions and desire to engineer the surreal, particularly using feral and domestic felines; No animal is killed for the pourpose of Claires work.”
While her bio is free from copious cat-based puns (sadly), she has plenty of spelling mistakes to make up for it.
With bidding starting at NZ$1400, it really could only be a better deal if it also came with the cat’s entire medical record – complete with the date of when it was last checked for fleas.

It seems contradictory to sell a stuffed dead cat bag as if it’s an entirely pro-life piece for crazy cat ladies everywhere … but when the seller was question in the comments page about their “no animals were hurt in the making of this bag” disclaimer, they simply respond: “Natural death.”
Good to know.

Despite the seller reassuring potential customers that the cat-come-fashion piece died a natural death, “squashed on the side of road by people w car”, the bag seems to have left some animal lovers feeling a little prickly.
Many people pounced on the chance to poke fun at the item, asking questions like, “Has the cat been spayed as I don’t need a lot of coin purses running a muck cheers” and “Is this just a joke, or is it fur real?”
Others made inquiries like, “Hey Have you got any dolphins in stock?” and “How much to have myself made into a bag? Probably around 50 years from now by estimate.”
However, others HAD their claws out, raring for a full-on pussy riot!
One wrote, “Karma karma karma hope you get stuffed” … to which the seller responded to by pointing out, “It’s recycling.”
The bag has also been called “sick and disgusting”, “morally wrong”, “crass on many levels” and “not the slightest bit creative or artistic.”
