I am one of those people who gets lost in browsing beautiful homes online. Of course, even with a lottery win I could never afford any of these outlandish properties. However, it’s fun to get a peek into how the truly rich and famous live. And, realtor.com pulls back the curtain on the most expensive zip codes in every state. Plus, they allow us to dream about the most expensive listing within each of those zip codes. And, the most expensive neighborhood in North Carolina features this $9 million home.
First, let’s look at how the online realtor arrived at the most expensive zip codes list. According to their website, realtor.com took the highest median home list price in October 2023 for every zip code in the nation. Then, they excluded areas with fewer than 25 listings. So, to end the suspense, the most expensive zip code in the entire nation is Bel Air. The small neighborhood in Los Angeles has a median home price of $8.6 million. And, the most expensive listing is a jaw dropping $139 million. However, I’ll spare you all the details of a home you’ll never live in. But, suffice it to say, I might enjoy the perk of the chilled vodka tasting room complete with fur coats. And, it has its own night club. Ok, enough!
Now, let’s get to the most expensive neighborhood in North Carolina featuring this $9 million home. It’s Cashiers, 28717. And, the median list price is $1.9 million. According to realtor.com, the median square footage of homes in the zip code is just over 10,000. And, the most expensive listing is a $9 million, 11 bedroom home. The home was built in 1976 and has a total of 35 rooms. No, it doesn’t have a chilled vodka tasting room with fur coats. But, it does has an elevator, hot tub and a barn.
So, Cashiers is beautiful. And, lots of folks enjoy vacationing there with its proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains, rivers and waterfalls. It’s perfect for the outdoorsy types. Its population is small at just around 2000, not counting tourists. The area gets some snow and skiers enjoy the slopes of Sapphire. And, my husband would be thrilled about the private golf courses in the area. However, after investing in a $9 million property in the most expensive neighborhood in North Carolina, I doubt we could afford to play. LOL.
But, it’s fun to dream nonetheless. And, if you’d like to see the full list of the most expensive neighborhoods in every state, check the entire study. Meanwhile, I’ll keep browsing listings I’ll never own.
It’s so much fun to fantasize about living in a massive, expensive home. If you’re anything like me you love HGTV and the bigger the budget the better. I have no desire to watch the $120,000 budget episodes. If it’s not at the very least $500,000 I’m just not interested. Not that I can afford them but hey a girl can dream.
And living in Charlotte there are tons of luxury homes all around. So I did a quick search by the most expensive on Realtor.com just to see what’s out there (and spend hours looking at the pictures). But you don’t have to do the research, I’ve compiled a list of the 17 most expensive homes on the market in Charlotte. This is as of January 26th as we know things change quickly. Why 17? Well, that’s the number of single-family homes priced at or above $3 million currently for sale. And if we are going big, we are going big. But there are many many more over that $1 million price tag.
The variety of properties is actually pretty good. Some are in Myers Park (no surprise), one near Mint Hill, as well as South Charlotte. They all have at least three bedrooms in fact one has 7. Most have 6.5 bathrooms as well. You’re looking at lots of space, massive yards, and high-end finishes for the price tag.
While the market is booming currently, the number of people with the budgets for these types of houses isn’t as large as more affordable ones. You don’t have to act quite as fast as you would for other homes in Charlotte. According to Realtor.com, there are currently 1,682 homes for sale in Charlotte (note this is just the city of Charlotte not any of the surrounding towns).
